THEODORE SCHOEPKE is one of the all around men, capable as a farmer, as a stock man, as a carpenter and mechanic when such services are required, and by his efforts and results is gaining the admiration and esteem of his fellow citizens and neighbors in Bear Creek Township. Mr. Schoepke has the old Schoepke homestead in that township on Rural Route No. 40 near the Village of Bear Creek. He was born on his present farm in section 29 of that township October 18, 1877, and is a son of Charles F. and Augusta (Tischer) Schoepke. Reference to the careers of his parents will be found on other pages of this publication.
Theodore grew up on the home farm, attended the parochial schools two winters and also the public schools. He has spent nearly all his life on the farm, where he was born. For two summers he worked out as a farm hand and he also had two winters of experience in the northern Woods.
On November 6, 1902, Mr. Schoepke married Emma Heinrich, daughter of John and Marie Dautermann Heinrich. Mr. and Mrs. Schoepke leave three children: Wallace, Loraine and Arnold. The two oldest are now in school. The family are members of the Lutheran Church and Mr. Schoepke is a republican. At the time of his marriage Mr. Schoepke started out to make his own way in the world, and soon afterwards bought the interests of the other heirs in his father's homestead in section 29. There he has 100 acres under his control and direction. He devotes his farm to mixed agriculture, and also keeps a dairy of twelve grade Holsteins and some hogs. He is in the midst of a large program of improvement. He has already erected a new barn, with full basement, 38 by 80 feet, and in 1913 erected a silo 14 by 30 feet. This silo is of stave construction. He has also put up some fencing and built a good shed to shelter his farming implements.
