Donald J. Raisler, age 78, of 208 SE 1st Street, Marion, passed awaysuddenly Saturday morning, August 28, 1999, of an apparent heart attack.The Rhodes & Beil Funeral Home, Marion is assisting the family.
Donald John Raisler was born December 5, 1920 in the Town of BearCreek, Outagamie County, and was the son of the late Charles and Carrie(Heinrich) Raisler. He grew up in the Tigerton area, and was a 1938graduate of Tigerton High School. Donald served in the United States AirForce during World War II. He was united in marriage to Lorraine L.Marquardt on December 4, 1948 at Appleton, Outagamie County, Wisconsin.The couple have lived in Marion for the past 48 years. Donald wasemployed by Marion Hardware for 23 years, and was retired from the Cityof Marion, where he had served as City Coordinator for 18 years, retiringin January 1986. He was also the City of Marion Assessor for 27 years.Donald was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Marion, and had servedon various committees. He was a member of Post 198 American Legion,Marion, Big Falls VFW Post, Marion Lions Club, Marion Historical Society,Marion Economic Development Corporation, and treasurer of MPC. Donaldalso was a Marion City Alderman for 8 years, and served as cityclerk/treasurer.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine, two brothers, Carlton Raisler,Weyauwega, and George (Marian) Raisler, Appleton. Two sisters, BeatriceKnaack, Appleton, and Jean (W. Keith) Kellogg, Rancho Santa Fe,California and two sisters-in-law, Viola Radke, New London and ReginaMarquardt, Marion.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 31, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.at St John's Lutheran Church, Marion. Rev. Mark U. Ziemerofficiating.Burial will be in the Trinity-St John's Cemetery. Friends maycall from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Rhodes & Beil Funeral HomeMarion, and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time ofservices.
